Avista has recently published its 2012 Electric Service Requirement Handbook. This handbook gives the revised requirements for anyone installing, repairing, or upgrading an electric service in Avista’s service area.

2012 AIA Arizona Photo Contest

This year’s 2012 Photography Contest sponsored by AIA Arizona is open to all AIA, aAIA, Emeritus, Affiliate/Allied members of AIA within the Western Mountain Region & AIA Northwest and Pacific Region. Per the AIA Arizona’s website, “Photo’s will be judged by professional photographers and the finalists will be held on display at the 2012 Western Mountain & Northwest Pacific Joint Conference. Each year the top three photographers are awarded Arizona hotel/resort gift certificates. The photos are due by May 4th, 2012. There is a $25 dollar entry fee which allows up to 5 photos to be submitted.

NCARB implementing IDP 2.0 on April 5th

Implementation of the final phase of the Intern Development Program (IDP) 2.0 is just a few weeks away. Coming on April 5, it represents a programmatic evolution that has been taking place since 2009 and includes significant updates that are beneficial to interns as they work their way toward licensure.

On 5 April 2012, the final phase of IDP 2.0 launches, along with a new reporting system.
Interns currently participating in the IDP will be affected by the rollover to IDP 2.0; however, there are many steps interns, their supervisors and mentors, and IDP coordinators, can take to prepare for the rollover. Click here for more information from the NCARB website.

Austin Dickey nominated for Spokane Design Review Board Position

Austin Dickey, AIA, of Copeland Architecture & Construction has been nominated and appointed as the Architect position of the Spokane Design Review Board.

Per the City’s website, the ‘Spokane City’s Design Review Board was established in 1994 and is comprised of citizens and practicing professionals who represent community interests including a diversity of design and technical professions. Board Members are nominated by the Mayor, appointed by City Council and serve without compensation’. The Design Review board advocates for design excellence in Spokane. There are only 9 positions on the Design Review Board with one of those being the Architect position. Austin’s term will continue through 12/31/14. Congratulations Austin!

The 2012 AIA Spokane Design Awards are divided into three categories which include “Built Projects over $1 million construction costs”, “Built Projects under $1 million construction costs” and “Unbuilt Projects”, each of which has its own unique requirements, deadlines & judging criteria. Entries must have been completed between March 31st, 2006 & March 31st, 2012 and must have been designed by an AIA or AIA Associate of Spokane. See the AIA Spokane Call for Entries for more information including submission requirements & eleigibility, forms, & judging criteria.

No January Chapter Meeting

Dave Huotari elected to AIA|WA Council

Entry submissions for the 2011 Mayor’s Urban Design Awards are due by noon on Monday, August 1st, 2011.
