The May AIA Spokane Chapter meeting will be at 5:30pm on Tuesday, May 22nd and will feature a tour of the Convent of the Holy Names (2911 W. Fort George Wright Drive, Spokane) near Spokane Falls Community College. You must RSVP to Katherine(747-5498) to take the tour. AIA Spokane will be hosting the AIA Post-Disaster Safety Assessment Program Training (SAP) this year. The date of the training is scheduled for Friday, June 8th, 2012. Architects, Engineers and Building officials are encouraged to attend. The Safety Assessment Program utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers, architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in the aftermath of a disaster. Rachel Minnery, AIA, is the chair of the National AIA’s Disaster Assistance Task Force and will be the instructor for this program. Rachel has led groups of volunteer architects to disaster-stricken places including Haiti and Mississippi and co-founded Architects Without Borders Seattle in 2005.

This year’s annual CSI/AIA Golf Tournament will be on Thursday, August 30th, at The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Inland Northwest Architectural Foundation and the CSI Spokane Chapter Education Fund. The event will be a shotgun start beginning at 1:00 pm.
